TEKNOFEST Akdeniz

Credit card fraud causes billions of dollars in losses every year, and fraudsters keep changing their methods. So instead of fixed rules, we built a model that keeps learning.

We trained XGBoost and a neural network together on 284,807 real transactions with 28 PCA-transformed features, and designed a detection pipeline, continuously updated through OLAP, that flags any transaction with a fraud probability above 80% as suspicious.

We took first place in Adana in October 2024, and were then honoured with a certificate of appreciation from the Governorship of Istanbul.

I built a machine-learning risk-scoring tool that analyses the Alpha, Beta, Sharpe and Sortino metrics of TEFAS funds.

I integrated the model, which predicts the risk score with over 98% accuracy, into the Java Spring and Oracle stack.

Patient routing with face recognition

A contactless biometric system that recognises patients by their face at the hospital entrance and directs them to the right block, floor and doctor based on their appointment. As principal investigator, I built it on a Raspberry Pi 4 with a camera module.

A hybrid model built on a neural network and XGBoost. 99.9% precision and recall on normal transactions, and it keeps learning new fraud patterns from continuously updated data.
